Still feeling anxious? Here's how to cope
Thursday, 2 July · 2 min read

As some parts of the world continue to open up and others go back into lockdown following a rise in coronavirus cases, you may still feel anxious about the future.

This may be due to worries about you or your family catching the virus, or perhaps you have concerns about your finances or losing your job?

Studies show that anxiety levels continue to be higher than usual -- but there are things you can do to help maintain good mental health.

It may help to schedule some ‘worry time’ or write down your worries in a notebook or diary to go through any concerns or negative thoughts without feeling overwhelmed -- and to note anything that triggers your anxiety.

You could also try:

  • opening up to someone you trust and trying to talk about your worries
  • getting plenty of sleep so you have the energy to cope with your feelings
  • regular exercise, which is known to help manage stress, unease or intrusive thoughts
  • breathing exercises or meditation to calm you down and reduce stress
  • practicing yoga or listening to music
