Why dancing is good for your health
Thursday, 27 August · 1 min read

If you're looking for an enjoyable way to get fit and improve your mental wellbeing, try dancing.

There are lots of styles of dance you can try, from folk, jazz, samba and jive to belly dancing and street dance.

And it has benefits for people of all ages and sizes.

Dancing can improve strength, muscle tone, coordination, endurance and fitness.

It can also:

  • help you lose weight by burning calories
  • boost heart and lung health
  • increase your aerobic capacity (how well your body uses oxygen and supplies it to your muscles)
  • increase your confidence
  • improve balance and flexibility
  • boost your mood

If you're not sure how to get started, have a look online for local classes that may have started up again or for videos you can follow at home.

Quote of the day

We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once.

Friedrich Nietzsche, philosopher
