Are you confused about how close you can get to others and still stay safe from coronavirus?
Depending on where you live, or which health agency you listen to, the guidance is different -- ranging from 1m to 1.5m, 1.8m or 2m.
You should follow the advice given by your local authority, but it may help to know just what the risk is.
A recent study in The Lancet found that standing less than a metre away from someone who has coronavirus had a 13% risk of infection, while being more than 1m away brought this down to 3%. The risk then halved at 2m and again at 3m.
