Should I worry about a sore penis?
Friday, 19 June · 2 min read

A sore penis isn't the easiest thing to talk about openly, but it may help to know that it's fairly common -- and usually nothing to worry about.

But if you have a red, sore penis, you should show a doctor as it could be a sign of various conditions, including:

  • a yeast infection
  • a sexually transmitted infection, such as gonorrhoea or genital warts
  • a skin condition, such as psoriasis
  • an injury from sex or masturbation
  • a build-up of fluid
  • cancer -- although penile cancers account for under 1% of cancers in men.

The best way to avoid a sore penis is to practice safe sex, avoid using deodorant or talcum powder around your genitals and practice good personal hygiene -- by washing your penis daily with warm water.
